How
do I measure up for my blind?
Inside the recess
Use a steel tape, never a cloth dressmakers tape. Measure both sides for the depth, giving us the lesser of the two measurements, and measure the
top and the bottom (window recesses are not always uniform) again, state the lesser dimension. It is easiest if you state the actual recess size and do
not deduct anything.
However, if you prefer, you can make deductions and state that your order is actual blind size.
Watch out for projections into the space the blind needs, such as tiling features, dado rails, window handles etc.
Outside the recess
Use a steel tape, never a cloth dressmakers tape. Measure the window and decide by how much you wish the blind to overlap at the sides, top and
bottom. State the size and state that it is actual blind size outside recess fitting. You might find the window ledge obstructs the smooth operation of the
blind. Either use a batten to bring the blind away from the wall surface so it misses the ledge, or stop the blinds drop at the ledge, if visually this
is going to look OK.

you are drilling into masonry.
